Coimbatore prison in particular has had a huge impact on V.O.C.!

The jailer's name is Minjel... He is very bad. A cruel person..!

When he was taken to jail, he was tied up with his hands and feet and dragged through the streets..!

V.O.C. had a separate room in the jail. But it had no air conditioning. There was no cleanliness or hygiene. V.O.C. was kept locked up with animals tied to his feet..!

As soon as he went to jail, his head was shaved. He was given only one dress, and that too was sewn from a sack.

The person who used to feed a thousand people a day was given gruel in jail. That too had gone sour. Sometimes worms would float in that gruel..!

Because of his poor health, V.O.C. asked for rice from the queen for only one day. For that, the jailer Minjel has been starving for 3 days without even giving him the pulp.

He has to turn the jute-pulling machine by hand. This is the first job given to VOC. Because of doing so, the skin on VOC's hands is torn and bleeding. Seeing that, a prisoner ran over and stopped the machine from turning.

But Minjel beat the prisoner to death... Then, instead of giving him manual work, they gave him the job of pulling the rope. That is, they locked VOC up instead of a cow. That too in the scorching sun. If he faints and falls down, they will beat him with a whip..!

A prisoner who knew VOC's value, put both hands above his head and said, "Hello, sir." That's it, a riot broke out in the prison and the jailer caused trouble to the point that one prisoner was shot dead.

Even after VOC was released, his license was taken away, so he could not continue his legal practice. He worked in a rice shop. After working all day, he would go home with 4 deep rice. The British authorities, who knew about this, sealed the grocery shop..!

He was struggling to even eat half a bowl of porridge, so he sold it carrying kerosene on his head...!

What's worse is that when VOC asked for help in the court to restore his legal license, senior lawyer Mudharin Rajaji refused.

Sometimes VOC opposed Gandhi, and sometimes he could not accept Gandhi's policies..!

Hearing that VOC's family was in poverty, Tamils ​​in South Africa collected 5000 rupees and gave it to Gandhi. They also said, "Somehow, please give this money to VOC." They kept reminding Gandhi by sending him letters after letters..!

But Gandhi never gave that money to VOC. We call it "Gandhi's account". That's what it is! (Tilak, who intervened in this matter and organized a panchayat and got that money for VOC, is a separate story)

There is no martyr or a leader with the same fighting spirit as VOC in Indian politics. However, it is regrettable that he was not given due respect in his own party, even after his death. It is a bitter truth that Congress did not help him even to face some cases..!

To be honest, VOC was more devastated by the betrayal of his own party than by the oppression of the British government..!

Only the Tamil VOC has the honor of launching a war against the whites who had enslaved him for many years..!

Instead of just saying "V. O. C. sailed the ship and drew the check", today's youth should vigorously spread his social justice policy among the people..!

We should loudly and loudly tell the people that no one deserves to be limited and ridiculed by Tamils..!

அதிலும் கோவை சிறைதான், வஉசிக்குள் பெருமளவில் தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி இருக்கிறது..!

அந்த ஜெயிலர் பெயர் மிஞ்ஜேல்... ரொம்ப மோசமானவன். கொடூரக்காரன்..!

ஜெயிலுக்குள் கொண்டு செல்லும்போதே, கை, கால்களை கட்டி தெருவெல்லாம் இழுத்து சென்றுள்ளனர்..!

வஉசிக்கு சிறைக்குள் தனி ரூம். ஆனால் அதில் காற்று வசதி இல்லை. சுத்தமும் சுகாதாரமும் இல்லை. கால்களில் விலங்கு பூட்டப்பட்டுதான் வஉசியை அடைத்துவைத்தனர்..!

ஜெயிலுக்குள் சென்றதுமே தலையை மொட்டை அடித்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஒரே ஒரு டிரஸ் தந்திருக்கிறார்கள், அதுகூட சாக்குப் பையால் தைத்தது.

ஒருநாளைக்கு ஆயிரம் பேருக்கு சாப்பாடு போட்டவருக்கு, ஜெயிலில் கூழ் தந்தார்கள். அதுவும் புளித்து போயிருந்தது. சில சமயம் அந்த கூழில் புழுக்கள் மிதக்குமாம்..!

உடல்நிலை மோசமானதால், ஒருநாள் மட்டும் அரசி சோறு கேட்டாராம் வஉசி. அதற்காக 3 நாளைக்கு, அந்த கூழை கூட தராமல் பட்டினி போட்டுள்ளான் அந்த ஜெயிலர் மிஞ்ஜேல்.

சணல் கிழிக்கும் மிஷினை கையாலேயே சுற்ற வேண்டும். இதுதான் வஉசிக்கு தரப்பட்ட முதல் வேலை. அப்படி செய்ததால், வஉசியின் கைகளில் உள்ள தோல் கிழிந்து ரத்தம் கொட்டி உள்ளது. அதை பார்த்து ஒரு கைதி, மனசு கேட்காமல் ஓடிவந்து மிஷின் சுற்றுவதை தடுத்துள்ளார்.

ஆனால் அந்த கைதியை அடித்து நொறுக்கினான் மிஞ்ஜேல்... பிறகு, கையால் செய்யும் வேலைகளை தராமல், செக்கிழுக்கும் வேலையை தந்துள்ளனர். அதாவது மாட்டுக்கு பதில் வஉசியை பூட்டினர். அதுவும் உச்சிவெயிலில். இதில் மயங்கி கீழே விழுந்துவிட்டால், சவுக்காலேயே அடிப்பார்கள்..!

வஉசியின் மதிப்பு தெரிந்த கைதி ஒருவர், தன்னுடைய தலைக்கு மேல் 2 கைகளையும் கூப்பி "வணக்கம் ஐயா" என்றார். அவ்வளவுதான், ஜெயிலுக்குள் கலவரம் வெடித்து, ஒரு கைதி துப்பாக்கி சூட்டில் இறக்குமளவுக்கு பிரச்சனை செய்துவிட்டான் அந்த ஜெயிலர்.

வஉசி விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டும் தன்னுடைய வக்கீல் பணியை தொடர முடியாத அளவுக்கு லைசென்ஸ் பிடுங்கிவிட்டனர். ஒரு அரிசி கடையில் வேலை பார்த்தார். நாள் முழுக்க வேலை பார்த்துவிட்டு, 4 ஆழாக்கு அரிசியோடு வீட்டுக்கு போவாராம். இந்த விஷயம் தெரிந்த அந்த மளிகைக் கடைக்கு சீல் வைத்து விட்டனர் பிரிட்டிஷ் அதிகாரிகள்..!

அரை வயிற்று கஞ்சிக்குகூட கஷ்டப்படும் நிலை வந்ததால்தான், தலையில் மண்ணெண்ணெய் சுமந்து விற்றுள்ளார்...! 

இதைவிட கொடுமை, தன்னுடைய வக்கீல் உரிமத்தை மீட்டெடுக்க கோர்ட்டில் வாதாடி உதவ வேண்டும் என்று வஉசி கேட்டதற்கு, மூத்த வக்கீலான மூதறிஞர் ராஜாஜி மறுத்துவிட்டாராம்.

சில சமயம் காந்தியை விட்டுத்தராமலும், சில சமயம் காந்தியின் கொள்கைகளை ஏற்க முடியாமலும் எதிர்த்துள்ளார் வஉசி..!

வஉசி குடும்பம் வறுமையில் உள்ளதை கேள்விப்பட்டு, தென் ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் உள்ள தமிழர்கள், 5000 ரூபாய் நிதி திரட்டி காந்தியிடம் தந்திருக்கிறார்கள். "எப்படியாவது வஉசியிடம் இந்த பணத்தை சேர்த்துவிடுங்கள்" என்றும் சொல்லி உள்ளனர். லெட்டர் மேல் லெட்டர் போட்டும் காந்திக்கு ஞாபகப்படுத்தி கொண்டே இருந்தனர்..!

ஆனால் அந்த பணத்தை காந்தி, வஉசிக்கு தரவே இல்லையாம். "காந்தி கணக்கு" என்று நாம் சொல்கிறோமே. அது இதுதான்! (திலகர், இந்த விஷயத்தில் தலையிட்டு பஞ்சாயத்து செய்து, அந்த பணத்தை வஉசிக்கு பெற்று தந்தது தனி கதை)

வஉசிக்கு இணையான ஒரு தியாகியோ, போர்க்குணமுள்ள ஒரு தலைவரோ இந்திய அரசியலிலேயே கிடையாது. ஆனாலும் சொந்த கட்சியில் உரிய மரியாதையை, அவர் இறந்தும்கூட தராதது வருந்தத்தக்கது. சில வழக்குகளை எதிர் கொள்வதற்கும் கூட அவருக்கு காங்கிரஸ் உதவவில்லை என்பது கசப்பான உண்மை..!

உண்மையை சொல்வதானால், பிரிட்டிஷ் அரசின் ஒடுக்குமுறைக்கு ஆளாகி சீரழிந்ததைவிட, சொந்த கட்சியின் துரோகத்தால்தான் அதிகம் துவண்டுபோனார் வஉசி..!

பல்லாண்டு காலமாய் அடிமைப்படுத்தியிருந்த வெள்ளையர்களுக்கு எதிராகக் கப்பல் விட்ட பெருமை இந்தியாவிலேயே தமிழன் வஉசிக்குதான் உண்டு..!

இனியாவது "வஉசி கப்பல் ஓட்டினார், செக்கிழுத்தார்" என்பதை மட்டுமே சொல்லி சுருக்கிவிடாமல், அவருடைய சமூக நீதி கொள்கையை மக்களிடையே, இன்றைய இளைஞர்கள் அழுத்தமாக பரப்ப செய்ய வேண்டும்..!

தமிழர்களை மட்டுப்படுத்தவும், ஏளனப்படுத்தவும், யாருக்குமே தகுதி கிடையாது என்பதையும் செவிப்பறையில் ஓங்கி அறைந்து சொல்ல வேண்டும்..!

இந்திய சுதந்திரப் போராட்டத்தையும், அதற்காக தன்னுடைய வாழ்க்கையையும் உயிரையும் தியாகம் செய்த தியாகிகளை நன்றியோடு நினைவு கொள்வோம்.
